Catching Up... Again?

Has anyone else noticed that it's practically August?
I thought Summer just started?
It's gonna be Christmas before it even decides to get warm over here!!
Sheesh.
I don't know why time feels like it has to keep speeding up, but it certainly does.
And I don't know why our weather has been so cold this summer, but it definitely has been.
But that's not what this post is about.
This post is about catching up on all the things we've been filling our time with.
All the moments we've been soaking up before summer is over.
Let me take you on a picture journey.
That's much more fun than just words :)

First of all Martin and I took a weekend trip to see the Mariners before they started this awful losing streak.

(sorry it was on a camera phone...)

Then 4th of July came and we celebrated with Martin's parents.

The boys made us some delicious dutch oven dinner/dessert :)

We played some croquet...

And even Eli got in on the action.

Then we had our own fireworks show...

Which Eli hated despite all our attempts to comfort him...

So Eli and I watched the show from inside Papa's truck.

(attractive, no? haha)

It was a fun 4th and the weather was unbelievably perfect!!

YAY!! :)

Right after that Martin and I went on the Stake Youth Venture.
We helped in the vignettes and it was a fun experience.
Sadly not one picture of us in our pioneer garb.
Sorry.

This past week we went with Martin's parents to Seaside, OR.

Our trip started with this picture :)

Hahaha he was sooooo tired.
The moment Grammy handed him the pickle he was out.
He probably would have slept for hours with the pickle in like a pacifier but after a few pictures we took it out :)

While we were there we visited the Tillamook Cheese Factory.
I wish I could say Eli loved it.
He did alright, but he's been having a heck of a time trying to get some teeth up top and he has been pretty cranky because of it.
Poor kid is working on like 6 teeth at the same time :(

(please excuse the blurryness...)

We built a fire on the beach one night and Eli was eager to help.

(are you on picture overload yet?)

Eli didn't love the concept of "sitting" around the fire.
go figure.
My child the busy body didn't want to sit.
So Papa took him down to the shore for a while.

Then he came up and played by the log for awhile.

And then Martin and I took him to the shore again, where he was happy to practice his walking skills.

(this may possibly be Martin's favorite trick right now :))

Over the next couple days we did some shopping, arcade games, eating, walking the promenade, movie watching, bowling, and the like.

Eli's favorite activity...

Getting covered in sand.

Eli, Martin, and I's least favorite activity...

The carousel.
Don't be fooled by the smiles.
First of all carousels = barf.
(not literally, but we wanted to.)
Second, we didn't even ride an animal because we tried about 5 different ones and Eli refused them all.
Third, we paid for it.
OH WELL.

To end on a good note, the house we stayed in was cute
and only a block away from all the action.
The weather was super nice while we were there
and I didn't even have to play a single round of
 "Oh heck"!
Hahaha :) woohoo!
 JK Martin!
I love oh heck :)

Hope everyone's having as fun a summer as we are, and I hope yours isn't going quite as fast as ours!
